Infinity February Releases

1/31/2016

Corvus Belli is prepping their February releases for Infinity.

From top left to right...
Hac Tao Special Unit (Hacker): think Heavy Infantry with TO Camouflage...happy Yu Jing players!
Oznat, Morat Hunting Regiment (Vulkan Shotgun): when things go to CQB that is when the Oznat & Vulkan Shotgun dominate!
Nisses from Svalarheima (Hacker): trying to feel the love for these guys...I really am. If you are looking for a good looking mini, then yeah they will fit your bill. Their stats aren't blowin my kilt up though especially given their price point vs. their WIP.
Desperados (USAriadna Ranger Force): think Easy Rider meets Akira...I haven't found the stats for these guys but the models look cool as hell!
Hassan Govads: Light Infantry that are veterans...now you can assemble a fireteam in the Hassassin Bahram Sectorial Army.

The big winner out of February...IMHO...Yu Jing with a really nasty HI hacker!

Green Stuff World & Pinterest

Pinterest is dangerous! Not from the perspective that it will do you actual physical harm but from my experience it can be a vast temporal black hole. I promise myself, only going to log on and add a few pins...next thing I know it is half way through the morning and I am behind the 8ball yet again. If it wasn't such a damn gold mine I suppose that it wouldn't be a problem.

That gold mine revealed to me an incredible nugget, Green Stuff World. This store is full of amazing products that are aimed at gamers like you and me! I have already placed an order for some of their products and look forward to letting you know just how they work out!

I would also like to shamelessly pimp a couple of my Pinterest boards as well...
Miniature Scenery...2,400 hundred pins of inspiration, materials, tools, tutorials!
Miniature Terrain Inspiration...reference pics for design and painting your miniature terrain projects!
Miniatures...nearly a thousand pins of some of super cool painted minis!
Just For Laughs...laughter is the best medicine!

D&D 5th Edition & Hero Lab

Lone Wolf has just announced that Hero Lab now supports D&D 5th Edition. If you are wondering what is included...everything in the official SRD.

"DM-specific tools will be incorporated throughout the month of February."

Those of you that read my Lone Wolf Development, Hero Lab, Pathfinder & how it could be better... opinion piece will be interested to note two things. I forwarded the article link to Lone Wolf and as of today still dead silence from them on it. However, perhaps we did get something of a retort back...

"Another cornerstone of Hero Lab is its extensibility, which allows both the user community and publishers to add custom material - much like mods to computer games. We already have longstanding relationships with big third party publishers that offer a host of D&D 5th Edition material, such as Kobold Press (Tyranny of Dragons, Tome of Beasts), Green Ronin Publishing (Out of the Abyss), Frog God Games, and many more. In fact, we’re already in conversations with some of them about Hero Lab support! Look for announcements about third party D&D products in Hero Lab in the near future."

This extensibility cornerstone might deserve a fair bit more attention from the developers over at Lone Wolf as I have yet to get my Belt of Many Pockets to act like a container without adding the contents weight to the user.

Antenocitis Workshop, Warsenal & Infinity the Game

1/28/2016

I have been a fan of Jed's work (over at Antenocitis Workshop) for a number of years now and have even put my money where my mouth is. Antenocitis Workshop has really led the way  in terms of scenery accents (doors, comm panels, display screens, etc.) but where I have always thought they were mavericks was their vehicles. The wide selection of designs means that you can populate your gaming board's streets with an impressive array of vehicles.

If you happen to live in the United States and aren't keen about waiting for them to be shipped across the Atlantic...you can also purchase them from Warsenal.
Speaking of Warsenal, they are another company that has trail blazed a brave new path forward and away from the shoebox buildings. While they are predominantly laser cut they have stood out by taking their designs in new directions. Having bought a fair amount of their products I can say that they have good fits that require only a bit sanding from time to time. If you want buildings and towers that feature striking designs with plenty of raised surface detail, you can't go wrong with them.
So what does this mean for Infinity the Game?

In my opinion, the synergy between all of these companies (and there are more than just Warsenal and Antenocitis Workshop) has helped strengthen Infinity. It isn't enough to have good looking miniatures and a strong set of rules. You need to have a visual impact with the scenery on the game board. Corvus Belli has made alliances with a range of companies that are pushing the design envelope and producing great products. Which is why Infinity is showing such great growth and not just in Europe.

Corvus Belli, Infinity the Game & Interplanetario 2016

As a fan of Infinity I am bummed that I can't make it to Interplanetario 2016, the Atlantic is a pretty big barrier to entry for me. However, there are probably more than a few of my fellow American's (i.e. people of the Americas not just the US) that could make the trip if they knew about it far enough in advance. Consider yourself forewarned!

If you are member of Pinterest be sure to swing by my board, Infinity: the wargame not the car.

V&V Miniatures & Vikings

V&V Miniatures has just released their latest set of 28mm resin Vikings...aka Vikings 2. This adds to their collection as they already have Berserks and Vikings.

The crispness of the numerous details is stunning and they look like a lot of fun to paint! Not sure about the "resin" portion of things though...as in...is it brittle? Given how good they look though I may risk it.

Bolt Action from Warlord Games

Warlord Games is offering for pre-order the M10 Tank Destroyer Platoon for their 28mm WW2 game...Bolt Action. This all plastic set of M10's is sure to give your Americans or British an extra bit of anti-tank firepower with it's 3-inch (76.2mm) gun. You can use them as either British or US, as they come with the crews for both. Free French wore US army uniforms just with French insignia.

Just remember it is a bit of a glass cannon, when it comes to incoming German rounds. The open topped turret was another design deficiency, allowing for that one lucky grenade toss to ruin the crew's day. An unfortunate trait that all fully tracked US tank destroyers shared. Not nearly as fast as the M18 Hellcat it did have thicker armor overall.

In spite of any deficiencies, the M10 was produced in significant numbers, 4,993 by GM from September 1942 to December 1943. The British were supplied 1,654 M10's, with more than a thousand converted to use the British 17-pdr. gun.
