Forgotten Pacts, due out November 22, 2016 will have a myriad of new scenarios centered on exploring the temples along with new treasures, spells, soldiers and monsters!
Within the northern district of the Frozen City, lay ruined temples, where once arrogant souls summoned demons bargaining for ever greater power. While those ancient pacts maybe forgotten the demons and the magic lore of their summoning remain...for those brave (or foolish) enough to venture there. It is no small task, as northern tribesmen have come down from the hills seeking treasures and many have marked themselves with demonic sigils...aligning themselves with ancient powers. Forgotten Pacts, due out November 22, 2016 will have a myriad of new scenarios centered on exploring the temples along with new treasures, spells, soldiers and monsters! Don't forget that, "Into the Breeding Pits" is due out July 19th!

Another epic project that Mike at Terranscapes completed and will hopefully provide some inspiration for your own EPIC projects! Following up on the previous post, I am pleased to highlight this incredible piece by Mike at Terranscapes. He has a series of WIP videos on his YouTube channel for this particular project...which is definitely an epic build! This was the first of 2 such themed builds and I will be posting up the other one very shortly!
Reading the tea leaves, as I do, I have noticed that you enjoy epic terrain builds (who can blame you after all). In that spirit, I would like to shine a light on a fellow YouTuber who has impressed me with his skill set over the years....AlfonsoTheTraitor and his Castle of the Keys! It should be noted his channel has some great tutorials for terrain building, so I hope you will check it out! With a mere 28 hours to go on the Vauban Fortress Kickstarter, from Laser Dream Works, we are a scant $690 USD from the Shore Battery ($4,500) and Barracks ($5,000). I am pleased to report that the Star Fort is unlocked so we will be able to do a 5 sided fort! This fort (or forts...you decide how man you have) covers a significant historical time frame...including the Golden Age of Pirates (and of course 7th Sea for you fantasy gamers)! Stock up on your filament and get ready to do some hardcore 3D printing! Don't miss out on this one. The Apocalypse Ruins Kickstarter is down to 57 hours and has blown through most of the stretch goals, only the Caribbean House (75,000 NZD) and Satellite Installation (80,000 NZD) remain. Sitting at 73,052 NZD with 675 backers this Kickstarter has surprised me by just how well it did. While I am a firm believer in 3D printed terrain and thoroughly impressed with Printable Scenery...I just didn't think that there were that many gamers out there with 3D Printers!!!
Considering how much content is included with this Kickstarter I guess I should not have been surprised by their success. There is a danger to making prognostications...invariably somebody will remember it and bring it up..."hey, remember when..." Well, a few years back I was in a game store that shall remain nameless when the owner told me with great certainty that Dwarven Forge was on the verge of going out of business. This was just when they (Dwarven Forge) had started their first Kickstarter and I was impressed with the number of backers that were flocking to it. I was not one of them, which has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of their product or even pricing. At that point I had invested so much money into Hirst Arts Castle Molds, that there was no point in switching. Anyway...I digress the actual point of this posting is that they are still around and going strong... With 8 days remaining on Printable Scenery's Kickstarter for the Apocalypse Ruins, they hit all of their stretch goals and have added 3 more stretch goals along with 2 more bonus items. As of right now it look like they are going to easily make the first new stretch goal "Halfling Homes". With 552 backers, sitting at $54,721 NZD ($36,965 UDS) they are blazing a trail into 3D terrain. The 100 piece collection of modular stone ruins are really the centerpiece of this Kickstarter, which I am going to be using for my Frostgrave setup. One of the great things about this is that I can have a set of "winter" ruins and another set for more hospitable seasons at a fraction of the cost. The other point that I would like to make about Printable Scenery is that their .stl files print beautifully! Full disclosure I am fully backing this Kickstarter! The other Kickstarter I am backing currently is Vauban Fortress by Laser Dream Works! Which has 7 days to go (it is funded) and has yet to get the level of recognition that the other Kickstarter has. Now personally, I am really excited about this Kickstarter as it is going to fit perfectly with 7th Sea as well as the Frigate add on from Printable Scenery! It would be fair to say that my gaming interests are rather broad. Setting that aside, I am glad to see more scenery manufacturers getting into the 3D printing arena as this will only strengthen this new segment of our hobby!
If you are playing the Brits in Bolt Action then there is some very good news for you...Warlord Games is coming out with the plastic version of the Sherman VC Firefly. This bad boy mounts the deadly 17pdr anti-tank gun, which in Bolt Action is a Super-Heavy AT gun. In game terms it is a medium tank, cost of 236 pts (inexperienced), 295 pts (Regular) and 354 pts (Veteran), optionally may cancel the "Easily catches fire" rule for +10 pts (Firefly Vc). With a 9+ Damage value it is going to be vulnerable to the Panthers and Tigers...so you are going to want to use your other tanks as a screening force (i.e. targets) to draw out your enemy. The Firefly does away with the bow mounted MMG which allowed for more ammo storage for the main gun. Crews also had a tendency to remove the M2 .50 cal HMG as it was problematic to fire with the extended turret. With a single .30 cal MMG (coaxial) it means you have a bit less anti-infantry capability, so you will want to keep it well supported with your infantry. The waterslide decal sheet is going to give you plenty of options to dress up your Fireflies with unit markings, tank names, and various id markings. Available for pre-order now being shipped late in June.
Be sure to sound off on what you think this new addition in the comments! So there you are playing 40k and you are wishing you had something that was truly as massive as the Imperium to put on your table. What can you do...right? Meet the Mount Rushmore of 40k terrain, brought to you buy the talented crew at Blueforge Terrain! The Space Marines and Dreadnought help give you a sense of perspective as to its overall size. Not much info on this beast as they just posted it up on their New section...still it is a monument that would make the Emperor proud. Let me know what you think!
The folks over at Osprey Games are looking to support Frostgrave Organized Play.
Your event has to be open to the general public and advertised on the internet. It must be run in conjunction with, or with the support of, a gaming store, a gaming club, or a larger convention. Drop them a line at [email protected] and let them know what you have planned! |
