Modern 28mm Minis & Vehicles

At this moment in time there are two companies that I know of that are producing 28mm (1/50 scale) vehicle for modern wargames...Empress Miniatures (which has the largest line) and Spectre Miniatures (two styles of SUV). While the selection is not as broad as I would like, they both produce (what I consider to be) the best vehicles around...regardless of genre. I recently got a HUMVEE w/ Weapons Station and M-ATV w/ .50 cal M2 from Empress Miniatures.

The M-ATV pictures almost do justice to the miniature that I am holding in my hands. The HUMVEE pics don't really capture just how good of a cast that it is. If my paint jobs are passable I will post up some better pictures. The quality of the casts and the crispness of all the details is impressive. While initially reticent do to the price tag of these models I decided to bite the bullet and see how good they really are. I am very glad that I took that leap of faith!

The vehicle that I got from Spectre Miniatures was the Urban SUV...

What a gorgeous sculpt with an incredibly clean casting. More importantly they really thought about how to make assembly as painless as possible with this model. Again though, the painted image doesn't really do justice to this model, which is merely my opinion mind you. 

If you happen to know of any other companies that produce 28mm (1/50 scale) vehicles I would love to hear about them!

In addition to the Urban SUV from Spectre Miniatures I purchases a good selection of their miniatures...

Their minis are equally impressive, loaded with details, accurately modeled weapons and gear. They are an easy recommendation in terms of quality, the hardest part is waiting for them to arrive.

I added a handful of minis from Empress Miniatures to the vehicle order...

It is extremely pleasing to be able to give a full endorsement of a company's products, I would much rather say nice things than complain about problems. Empress Miniatures produces some incredible minis and I look forward to doing business with them in the future.
