Warmill: Blocks +

1/23/2017

For a long time now I have been watching a company out of England, Warmill. I would have liked to feature their products, however the way that they designed their website graphics it was simply a real headache to get images of their products. Fortunately they did a redesign of the website and now I can grab images easily!

First up, Blocks
Or more accurately, Block Estate 8-pack, for £89.99 ($111.93 USD). That breaks down to roughly $11.25 USD per level...compared to the Micro Art Studio offering of the District-5 Apartment 1 (3 levels at 29.52 €) which comes in at $10.52 per level. While only slightly more expensive per level you are getting a non-shoebox apartment with an internal wall (Micro Art Studio offers internal walls separately). No footprint dimensions are given but I am guessing it is comparable in size to Micro Art Studio's Apartment 1's.

Where Warmill differentiates itself is with the add-on's for the Block Estate.

Fire Escape x2
The Fire Escape adds considerable detail to the overall design and makes sense. Price at £9.34 ($11.62 USD) you are adding quite a bit to the footprint as well as tactical possibilities.

Balcony 2-pack
The Balconly 2-pack is priced at £9.34 ($11.62 USD), is "compatible with all attachment points allowing it to be added to any setup." Again it adds to the cost, however you are getting a substantial bump in your footprint and tactical options. In a game like Infinity where terrain density is relatively high having as many firing perches as possible at varying elevations is pretty crucial.

While, I do not have any of their pieces, and my Infinity terrain is pretty much filled out...if you are in the market for some buildings with considerable visual impact Warmill may very well have what you are looking for!

Hirst Arts: if you build they will come...

Bruce (of Hirst Arts)  has put together one of his most involved builds to date, the Watermill and being the helpful fellow that he is he has shared the build plans for this beast!
Picture
Now you may feel a little overwhelmed when you see just how much goes into this particular project. So you need some incentive to get motivated...right?
Motivated, check!

You want something a little more visual, well there are these!
These are just the first 3 videos out of 28. In all of these videos Bruce breaks the entire project down, step by step, so that you can build your very own spectacular Watermill. His approach makes this project not only doable but something that I really want to start on!

Knights of Dice: Easy District

Viv, at Knights of Dice, has been hard at work on a new offering, Easy District, a seedier side of Sentry City, if that was possible.

These buildings look great and have a Blade Runner esq feel to them. Starting things off we have the Obelisk, priced at $44 Australian Dollars ($33.27 USD).
Not tall enough for you, don't worry you can get an extra floor or two, with a $20 ($15.12 USD) sticker price it isn't going to break the bank.
Picture
Looking for some residential digs, they have the Otomo Apartments, looking like Decker is going to walk out with a blanket and a bourbon at any moment. Weighs in at $46 AUD ($34.79).
I think at least 2 additional floors are called for in this instance. $22 AUD ($16.64 USD)

There are additional buildings, you can see them all here!

Miniature Scenery: Hombi GT

Miniature Scenery has released a  couple of new vehicles recently. The Hombi GT caught my eye, as something that would look good for Shadowrun or Infinity. It is 2 inches (50mm) wide, 2 1/4 inches (60mm) tall, and just a scotch more than 4 1/2 inches (115mm) long. Priced at $16 Australian Dollars ($12.08 USD) it certainly is reasonably priced.  Best of all, I really like how it looks!

TT Combat...newish releases!

TT Combat has quite a few new releases these three are just a sampling of the work that they have been doing.

First up, the Grand Library.

It has  a 230mm (9 inches) by 265mm (10 1/2 inches) by 140mm (5 1/2 inches) footprint with a price tag of £13.95 ($17.10) which really is a great price for a building of that size.
Right across from the Grand Library you can put the Play Park Set.

It comes with a merry go round, swing set, monkey bars, a bench, and 2 see saws all for the low price of £3.95 ($4.84). As far as I know TT Combat is the only company offering this sort of detail elements for modern era gaming.
Finally, the Back Alley Accessories 3.

This set of 15 resin pieces includes:
2x Tires
4x Cardboard Boxes
1x Washing Machine
2x AC Units
2x Armchairs
2x Armchair Base Parts
2x Matresses

These are great looking pieces and I am going to be placing my order for them right after this post goes up. I have his other 2 Back Alley Accessories and they are great!

Bruce has added 2 new molds, the Tavern Window & Door Mold #227 and the Brick Panel Mold #253. Both of which retail for $29 apiece and having both in hand I can say they are great looking molds!

While I haven't been doing much casting of late, that is going to be changing and these two molds are going to be on my vibrating table!

TT Combat

So I have obviously been out of it for a while now and the gaming world stands still for no one individual, let us see what is now and exciting!

TT Combat is out with a plethora of items...which would be awesome for retro 80's and modern. Starting things off we have the Half Pipe, Music Shop, and Arcade. All of which are perfect for modern combat wargames...even though the music shop and arcade feel dated.

Lets start off with the Half Pipe...
This is comprised of 3mm MDF (aka Hardboard) and 1mm grey board, footprint of width 31.2 cm (12 1/4 inches), depth 16.8 cm (6 1/2 inches), height of 10.3cm (4 inches) and priced at £11.95 (or $14.62 USD). This is an interesting piece of scenery given how it provides limited cover depending on the angle. It certainly is thematic and should look great on your game table.

Next we have the Music Shop...
Plenty of character with this piece of scenery, the music shop has the potential for a great deal of customization with the interior (from KISS posters to vinyl covers for the display racks). It has a footprint of width 16.3 cm (nearly 6 1/2 inches), depth 24.3 cm (9 1/2 inches), height 10.6 cm (4 inches) also priced at £11.95 (or $14.62 USD).

Moving on we have the Arcade...
Memories of my misspent youth come flooding back...the building has a footprint of 23.5 cm (9 1/4 inches) width, 17.5 cm (6.9 inches) depth and a height of 15 cm (5.9 inches). The three arcade machines are 5 cm (1.9 inches) tall, 3.2 cm (1 1/4 inches) wide and deep. All for a price of £13.95 or $17.30 USD. This building has the potential for lots of great customization where you can add a lot of personal touches to make it stand out.

Wait there is more...

Suburban House A
This is just one of five different Suburban House designs that TT Combat has rolled out and they look amazing...with pricing that is amazing! All of them have a sticker price of £11.95 or $14.93 USD, given their footprint they are incredible deals!!!

Suburban House B
With a ranch style layout this building has a detachable carport and looks very easy to assemble.

How would I make this building standout?

Start off with Medium Gray Roof Shingle Paper O Scale  (4 sheets of 6 inch x 9 inch for $8.35) from Micro-Mark. Right there that saves me a lot of painting, although I would still go through and weather streak the shingles.

The interior I would spray white, which gives the illusion of a much bigger space and is a very common color.

Masking off the bottom portion of the exterior of the building (as well as the interior) I would spray the upper level with my airbrush with a light blue and then use Random Stone Paper 0 Scale (4 sheets of 6 inch x 9 inch for $8.35) also from Micro-Mark for the bottom level. I would apply that paper prior to gluing on the window frames. Speaking of the window frames, spray separately with the airbrush and the color white.

I would highly encourage you check out these buildings and TT Combat!

Printable Scenery is on the Rampage...with their new Indiegogo campaign.
Picture
Now I could tell you about this campaign but really wouldn't you rather hear it from the man himself?
So what do you think?

Will you go on the Rampage?

Update: Here is a look at some of the WIP on the Crypts for the Rampage line.
