![]() I just backed this campaign, for me the Victory with Add-On Kit 5...so let me make the case why you should too! If you go to the page and you see that they are only 51% funded and have 11 days remaining on the campaign...you might think that they won't reach full funding. As such, you may pass on this campaign. That would be a huge mistake! You see this campaign is Flexible Funding, meaning that even if they don't reach their goal you still get what you ordered. I nearly missed this fact so I feel obligated to point it out. Having watched the video I believe that this product is going to meet (if not exceed) my expectations. Personally...I have my own horror stories of miniatures that broke traveling and I have seen more than a couple instances that were gut wrenching. One that sticks with me...I was at a game store during a 40k tournament, this guy had three spectacular Dark Angel Rhinos that were meticulously kitted out and beautifully painted. He was carrying them on top of a box with his miniatures. I offered to get the door for him but he declined. The door was heavy and as it swung closed behind him it hit him hard enough to send all three Rhinos flying. The blood curdling F-bomb he dropped... echoed through the night. So, when I say, "lets end the off table carnage"...it really is not a joke. EDIT: So, I read this to my wife to see what she thinks and have her watch the video. She turns to me and asks, "What about my Wood Elves?" That gentlemen is when you know that you married your perfect mate! And yes, I am adding another case and another Add-On Kit 5. :-) ![]() Have you ever seen a Kickstarter that was sooo successful that they simply ran out of stretch goals? I think that we are getting to that point with the 7th Sea Kickstarter. The last two stretch goals include the 7th Sea Cinematic Trailer... "If we reach $1,25 Million, we'll commission a two-minute cinematic trailer that we can use to pitch studios and production companies in Hollywood on making a 7th Sea movie or television show. We think 7th Sea is an amazing property, and we'd like to see it up on the big screen (or at least on Netflix)!" Then there is The Explorer's Society on DTRPG for the $1.35 Million stretch goal... "If we reach $1.35MM, we'll work with DriveThruRPG to build a hub for official fan-created 7th Sea adventures called The Explorer's Society. Fans will be able to use art, images, and templates provided by JWP to craft official adventures set across Terra, offering them for sale or for free download through the innovative model!" How to say this tactfully? Nearby a shark is being jumped. With only 5 hours to go it is sitting pretty at $1,257,021 in pledges with 11,059 backers...which is astonishing. At this juncture it feels like they should simply coast and rely on people upgrading their pledges for print products. For such an incredible Kickstarter it would be a shame to see it cocked up at the very end. Subconsciously Inspired by...Galavant. ![]() It is done, I have ordered my MakerGear M2 3D printer. If all goes well as of next week I should be printing out .stl files from Fat Dragon Games and Printable Scenery. In time I hope to be able to create my own files to print out custom objects. I know this isn't necessarily really Gaming News. At the same point in time I don't think that this is Opinion either and I really don't want to make another page just for more personal news. So, I hope you will bear with me. For all of you manufacturers out there...you should take to heart what I am going to tell you next. I just spent a significant chunk of change and I would say that 85% of why I opted for the MakerGear M2 was because of Greg_FL YouTube MakerGear M2 videos. Manufacturers you need to seek out YouTubers like Greg that have parallel interests to your products and cultivate relationships with them. I promise you all that advertising budget you are dumping into pop up ads will not compare to having a handful of YouTubers that are passionate about your products! Right about now you are thinking that you simply don't have time or resources to commit to locating and cultivating such relationships. Yet if you look at your advertising budget for a year I bet you might just reconsider that. I just wanted to give a big thanks to all my viewers that went ahead and supported the Indiegogo campaign for Winterdale 2! Final tally...$21,919 USD with 449 Backers, we got all the way up to the modular Graveyard!!! In the weeks to come a substantial bit a of bandwidth on here and my YouTube channel (you are subscribed to it right?) is going to be devoted to 3D printed terrain including how to assemble, paint and finish these pieces. In addition to that, plans have been laid for Frostgrave Fridays. This series is going to cover starting out to play Frostgrave, building the required terrain and collecting/assembling/painting the miniatures. Once all that is done...actual Frostgrave battle reports. Why Frostgrave? First, it is 28mm fantasy skirmish wargame...reasonable to get into in terms of cost, not a vast amount of time needed to paint up a horde of miniatures. Terrain is going to take a bit more time but then again I don't really enjoy playing on God's Soccer Field style tables. Second, the rules are very straight forward and don't require a PhD. This is a great game for new players and an entry point into the hobby. Third, it is 28mm fantasy which means the miniatures and terrain can (and will) do double duty for fantasy RPG games. Kickoff is going to be Friday the 18th and I hope you will check it out! ![]() Wow, with just 14 hours to go the Winterdale 2 Campaign kicked into high gear, going from $11,000 to $18,619 with 389 backers! When you consider that gaming is a niche market and the 3D printers are still far from common place...well you are talking about a niche of a niche. Yet, here we are closing in on the $20,000 mark and I have to say that I think we can do it. Get the word out, tweet it, post up to Google+ and Facebook, lets see how far we can take this! ![]() Only 4 days left on Death Ray Designs Kickstarter for their Black Site X & Rapid Vanguard Terrain. The campaign is funded however if you want some of those cool add-ons he is offering now is the time to get them before the campaign ends. ![]() Warlord Games has posted up another Head to Head article, this time the M8 Greyhound Vs Puma. I really can't quibble with either their historical analysis or how these two vehicles play within the game. It is a good article and I recommend it. The only analysis I would offer is this is a perfect example of why the Allies, in particular the US had such an advantage over the Axis. The US produced 8,500 M8 Greyhounds to the 100+ Pumas. While I would definitely prefer a Puma to a Greyhound in terms of quality, numbers have a quality all their own! ![]() It is down to the final 4 days of the 7th Sea: Second Edition Kickstarter and it has been an impressive run, to say the least! Fast approaching the 1 million dollar mark with 8,700+ backers, this campaign is going into the record books. Having secured the number 1 tabtletop RPG Kickstarter spot is a feat unto itself but getting to 1 million dollars is pretty astounding. You don't have to be much a prognosticator to feel certain that it is going to break a cool million. What does that mean for backers well at the very least we are going to get the final sourcebook, Secret Societies. Where I know that my pledge is going to increase is with the special items such as... "$20 Map of Théah - Our 24" x 36" map of Théah is an amazing piece by Mark Richardson of Green Hat Designs. It's perfect for spreading across your table in the middle of a game! $20 Map of The Crescent Empire - Our 24" x 36" map of The Crescent Empire will reveal the Nations held together by the Heroic Emperor. Don't travel such dangerous paths as these without it! $20 Map of Ifri - Our 24" x 36" map of Ifri, a land filled with danger, mystery, and opportunity. Any able-bodied crew needs a map of such a land to make their fortune! $20 Map of The New World - Our 24" x 36" map of The New World will reveal strange, new lands. Théan scientists would kill for such a document! $20 GM Screen - Three-panels, hard-backed, full color and full of all the information you need to make quick decisions in the high action world of Théah! $20 Deck of Villains - 54 unique cards, each one featuring a different 7th Sea Villain from lands near and far, ready to oppose your Heroes at every turn. $20 Deck of Heroes - 54 unique cards, each one featuring a different 7th Sea Heroes: rivals, lovers, and old friends ready to drop into any campaign. $40 The New World (Print/PDF) - Our first sourcebook, The New World, details the discovery of a new continent. What will the Théans find there? Gold? New adventures? New sorcery rules? New Hero rules? Yes! Yes! Yes! And Yes! $40 The Pirate Nations (Print/PDF) - Our second sourcebook, The Pirate Nations has everything you need to bring pirates to the world of 7th Sea, including a new Nation: Numa. Live free on the open seas! $40 The Nations of Théah, Vol. 1 (Print/PDF) - Our third sourcebook, The Nations of Théah, Vol 1., delves deeper into the politics and mysteries of Avalon, Castille, Montaigne, and Eisen. $40 The Nations of Théah, Vol. 2 (Print/PDF) - Our fourth sourcebook, The Nations of Théah, Vol 1., delves deeper into the politics and mysteries of Ussura, Vestenmennavenjar, Vodacce and the Sarmatian Commonwealth. $40 Heroes & Villains (Print/PDF) - Our fifth sourcebook, Heroes and Villains has over 100 compelling enemies, rivals, old friends and lovers for use in your 7th Sea campaign, along with new Quirks, Backgrounds, and Arcana for your group's characters. $40 The Crescent Empire (Print/PDF) - Explore a new land beyond Théah in The Crescent Empire, our sixth sourcebook that details a kingdom in which a group of highly religious, highly political Nations are held together by gossamer strings gathered by a Heroic Emperor. $40 Lands of Cold and Fire (Print/PDF) - Our seventh sourcebook brings Ifri, a new continent based on Africa, to 7th Sea for the first time. Sail down the great river Kwara in search of adventure and riches!" That is $420 of stuff to add to my initial pledge. By the time that the dust settles 7th Sea: Second Edition could end up with FAR more $$$ than we are seeing right now! So my question for you is...are you backing this Kickstarter? We are down to the final 2 days of Printable Scenery's Indiegogo Campaign for Winterdale 2! With just 236 backers we (yes, I am backing this campaign) are sitting at $11,000+. I would love to see a huge push and get us to the $20,000 level, allowing the unlock of Turret Cupola, Merchant & Market Stalls, and the Graveyard! Well...actually the optimal outcome would be the full $26,000 for the Gate & Drawbridge along with the Barbican but I don't want to seem greedy. What is that? Do I have a 3d Printer? I will be ordering one in 2 days so expect some content focused on that as well! Bruce, at Hirst Arts, has added the Rubble Bridge Mold #259, this includes larger arches and is pretty essential for creating more ornate structures. Mold #252 the Rubble Panel allows you to easily create half timber style houses with the Rubble Stone texture. The Stucco Panel Mold #251 and the Wood Panel Mold #224 round out options, giving you three distinct styles of panel molds to utilize. In all instances though you are going to need the Half Timber Mold #225, unless you are comfortable with using actual wood to cover the panel seams.
These five molds give us the ability to quickly build, stunningly good looking structures to add visual impact to any game table! |
